Found at an estate sale in amazing antique condition. No chips, cracks, fleabites or repairs. You will notice in photo 5 (bottom) there are 2 superficial cracks (girl figurine), these are from the molding process and do not affect the integrity of the statues and are not visible when in the upright position. There is significant paint wear do to age and cleaning. The pair needs a good cleaning, there is a lot of dust and yellowing. I did not wash them as I'm not a professional and did not want to compromise the remaining hand painting.
The back of each piece is embossed with the pattern number 9797 (boy) 9798 (girl) and the G with the double arrow through it and the initials DEP (girl) . This mark helps to date these pieces to between 1879 and 1886, after 1886 a crown was added to the mark.
This pair of figurines is a rare and wonderful find and will add beauty and interest to any room or collection!
